This was an unusual commission; the lady who requested it brought me a photo of her house, but asked that I add specific flowers here and there. So it's kind of an idealised version of her home. The flowers in the right foreground are meant to be hydrangeas, and the ones on the left are supposed to look a little like double hollyhocks.
This is watercolour, 11" by 14".

I like very much how you gave atention to details :) (like the flowers hanging on the walls, or the bricks )
the colours are beautiful, the place itself is so nice and peaceful :aww:

Way to slack on the floral detail--seriously. they really look like the flowers they're supposed to be, and yet there are really simple details. I have trouble doing that, and sometimes get so obsessed I end up spending hours on one or two flowers. ^^'

Bless you! I am not much cop at painting flowers, and felt as though this one was just going to go on forever. But then I realised that the floral details were just a secondary point of interest, the main focus being the house, and tried to make the flowers look almost like an "afterthought". I think if I'd gotten to heavily detailed, they might have distracted from the home...

nice painting! - if you are going to darken shadows.. only do very few....along the shaded side of the house? it looks pretty good now!!

Good point - if I have time, I'll try to give the shadows a bit of a heavier look in the areas that are most out of the sun. :) Thanks!
