Todays' work. this 9" by 12" watercolour portrait was commissioned by the winning bidder at the Cancer Society's annual silent auction. When worthy causes request a donation from me, I usually donate a gift certificate for an 8" by 10" portrait. I bumped the size up on this to 9" by 12" more for my own convenience - it's easier to paint a good likeness when it's a little larger.
Oh, and tie-dye is a lot harder to paint than I thought it would be.
Thanks very much, David! I added a little burnt sienna to the skin to give her that summer-glow look. I literally got lucky on the background - I didn't want to get too detailed for fear it would take away from the subject, but have just enough to look like shallow water and sand.
